LED

What is LED?

LED is an acronym for Light Emitting Diode. It is available in a variety of wavelengths to treat varying concerns within the skin. LED is safe for the skin and does not produce ultraviolet. LED treatments can be considered pain-free, relaxing whilst still providing long lasting rejuvenation and skin benefits.

What can be treated with LED?

A variety of skin conditions can be treated with LED.

  • Acne
  • Rejuvenation
  • Wound Healing

How does LED works?

LED treatments work by emitting low-level light energy into the skin to stimulate cellular activity. This can include stimulating fibroblasts responsible for collagen remodelling or reducing bacteria within the skin which is responsible for creating acne lesions.

What LED wavelengths does Skinfluence Clinic have?

At Skinfluence Clinic we have two wavelengths; red and blue.

Red LED
Is used to treat acne, rejuvenation (collagen remodeling). Red LED does not produce a thermal injury, it can feel warm under the LED however this heat is caused by photobiomodulation which excites skin cells to stimulate collage, growth factors and healing cells. This can lead to an increase in collage, lifting, tightening and quicker wound recovery.

Blue LED
Blue LED is more commonly used to treat acne. It works by normalizing skin cells responsible for creating excess oil production, it reduces bacteria count and acts as an anti-inflammatory.

Can I combine treatments with LED?

Your Skinfluencer may prescribe performing LED treatments in conjunction with Chemical Peels or performed following BBL, Fraxel, Laser or injectables to decrease the skins recovery time. It is also essential to perform a prescribed home skin care routine to further enhance your results.

What is involved in a LED treatment?

Following an initial consultation with your Skinfluencer they will determine which wavelength is suitable for your skin concern.

On the treatment day your Skinfluencer will cleanse your skin to remove any makeups, SPF or skin care products applied earlier that day. Following that eye shields will be provided to protect your eyes from the brightness of the LED light then the treatment will be performed. On average it will take 15-20 minutes under the LED.

How often should I get a LED treatment done?

LED treatments work better when performed consistently over a period of time. It is recommended to receive six LED treatments repeated weekly to fortnightly. Following this series of treatments, maintenance sessions are recommended at monthly.

How do I look after my skin following LED?

If your LED treatment is not combined with any other treatment normal skin care routine can resume immediately however if your LED treatment was combined with Chemical Peels, BBL, Fraxel or Injectables your Skinfluencer will educate you on your individualised after care instructions.
